The crate in the diagram has a mass of 10kg . It is released from rest 3.0 m above the ground, at the top of a ramp, and slides without friction until it reaches the rough patch between B and C , where the floor has coefficient of kinetic friction of 0.2. After crossing the rough patch it will hit a spring mounted against the wall. The spring has a hooke's constant of k 4000 N/m. If the mechanical energy before release is 294J, the velocity of the crate when it reaches point C is 6m/s, and the max compression of the spring when the box hits it is 0.3m.
Will the crate make it back to the left of point B after bouncing off the spring?
