Browder a Bronx native was was arrested at the age of 16 because he was accused of stealing a backpack. Refusing to accept a plea deal the high school sophomore went on to spend 3 years in jail awaiting trial before his case was dismissed. The series demonstrates the criminal justice system many inherent limitations. How do the proposed functions of the criminal justice system compare to how the system functions in reality, for example, in Browder's case? In what ways, if any, is the system "broken"? Did the system fail Browder and if so who do you believe should be held accountable? Lastly, drawing on the arguments made by Alexander, make an hypothetical argument about what your experience would be like if you were accused and jailed for the same crime?
