Third instar larvae of Chrysomya megacephala were investigated to reveal how the muscles are attached to the cuticle. Dots form at the place where the muscle strand attaches to the cuticle. The pattern of these dots are species specific and can be used as a tool for identification purpose. In Chrysomya megacephala third instar larvae; 8± 1 dots of row 2A formed an inverted C- shaped line. Row 3A consisted of 9± 1 dot. This row formed an I shaped pattern. Row 3B consisted 3± 1 dots forming a straight line. In the fourth segment, row 4A had 10± 1 dots forming inverted S shaped pattern. Row 4B consisted 4± 1 dot with straight line.
