Nowadays, almost all consumers read reviews before having a glimpse of the movie or product. They do this because it contains the opinion of individuals that can give us the clue about its content. For instance, we do have personal preferences in movie genres but the impression can affect expectation we have. Will it be the usual romantic movie? Will it turn me to a roller coaster with it's twist? questions like those are expected to be thrown and answered in the reviews. So, people read reviews to unravel certain curiosities behind it's cover. The remaining 20% will just be a proof of what you read based on reviews.

These are important because it can publicize the product in two varied ways. First, it can impact positively. Reviews can promote and influence consumers to watch when it is rated and commented positive feedbacks. Second, it can put down ratings when many people are dissatisfied or disappointed with their expectations. Therefore reviews are the first impression for people who are reading but the judgement for those who experienced it. As they say "first impression last" so it really matters.
