1. It is important to study engineering materials, because they provide wide range in the industry. It depends on the industry, for example in civil construction, engineering materials plays a important role to select the best material that they used. They must know the strength, stress, physical and chemical properties, so that they know whats the best material to choose for, it depends also to the application. In electrical industry it is important that you know engineering properties of metals that you use like, thermal conductivity, toughness, strength, plasticity, elasticity, electrical conductivity etc. Theres a  lot more specially when you work on the industry that you assign to design the specific services or things. You must know thr right material that to choos for.

2. Their are case that some organization has set standard to the building or other things, because this standardization have proven and tested, and they undergo long process to achieve. Like in math, their are formulated or derive formula that we used in everyday in school. These formula also undergo process and technical mind to formulated. They made several research and test to completely make a standard formula.
