Rose Valland in real life was a worker of the museum Jeu de Paume in France. She was later deemed the world war 2's biggest heroine, as she risked her life to help discover art and gems a French poet, a member of the French Resistance, a French military captain and a most decorated woman in France's history, (1 November 1898 - 18 September 1980).

The French art historian, a member of the French Resistance, the French military captain and one of the most decorated French woman in history, was Rose Antonia Maria Valland. She preserved tens of thousands of works of art, and secretly documented the Nazi plunder of French national art and Jewish private art in France.

James Rorimer praised Valland as the courageous lady who helped to trace Nazi plunderers and staked their lives in danger. Valland's contributions are called Mademoiselle Rose Valland. Valland was awarded the Legion of Honor and the Medal of Resistance for her bravery and valiant effort.

During Nazi theft, Rose Valland started to capture as many of the 20 000 works of art that were taken to the Jeu de Paume Museum as possible in secret. The fact that Valland learned German kept the Germans secret.
