Share experiences you have had as a parent or a student in building the school/home connection. What was most helpful?
Connecting home and school could greatly benefit the children/ students. It is important to know that your parents are the major provider of education to you starting from birth until adolescence. They guide the development of your character and values as well as your interests. Home being the primary environment to which your potentials are being shaped, it is very essential that there is a positive and supportive individuals to help you out and instill in you the desire to learn.
A good relationship found and practiced at home is very important to the school career of children/ students. Having your parents there beside you and actively participating in your learning and adding up more lessons that both of you could ponder on is really of great help. Your family can also have a deeper connection with your teachers so they could both know what to contribute for you in becoming the person who you wanted to be. The most effective teachers are those who fairly and completely tries to understand you despite the differences, it could be the culture or your beliefs.
I think the best experience that creates a good school/home connection is during family day wherein both the teachers, students and parents are involved. This is no time for a serious conversation but more of a team building to which you grow and learn from things you do together. Another one are meaningful assignments and projects that connect life at home to life at school and vice versa. This supports bond and connection between your daily life at home and in school.
Since partnership between home and school is very effective in education, we must creatively foster that partnership by being involve in many ways that we can.
