1) In each of these readings, and in past readings this semester, a woman's status is often based on marriage and her role in society. How did the women in the readings Taraka's Ghost, Uterine Families and the Women's Community and Polyandry: When Brothers Take a Wife handle this uncertainty in their status? How were their adaptations and coping mechanisms similar or different from one another? 2. We discussed the One-Child policy earlier this semester. How do you think a Chinese woman's desire to have a uterine family affects attempts to limit the Chinese population? How might this policy change the cultural values and practices of women in these uterine families? 3. The practices of the women in these three readings may seem foreign to Westerners. How might Western globalization affect and change the way these women cope? Do you think there would be a blending of Western culture and traditional practices or would one take over the other? 4. How are the marriage practices in each of these three cultures a reflection of their cultural values and norms?

1. The women in the readings Taraka's ghost, Uterine Families and the Women's Community Polyandry: When Brothers Take a Wife handle this uncertainty to their status by escaping the consequences that come with being a woman such as suicide. Stereotypes in the status of womanhood are considered to be only to do household chores and bring healthy babies. Their adaptation and coping mechanism resembles acceptance in what situation exists. For example, their adherence to the customs and beliefs of many or also called cultures. Their difference is how they respond to different situations and responsibilities of being a woman.

2. I think women's desire to have au uterine family affects attempt to limit the Chinese's population

in a way that has become a culture in which men are more important or favorable than women and this adds to the government's goal of reducing the population as a reason to be constrained to have a small family. Possible changes in cultural values and practices are losing women power and becoming a skill that can be passed on to future generations.

3. Western Globalization could affect how these women change the way these women cope through the liberalization of women today. For example, in Taraka 'Ghost we see that at a young age and dipa marriage he immediately had a child which led to his suicide. I think, it is better to mix Western and traditional culture where there is a difference and blending to balance the view of the gender state.

4. The way of marriage in these three penetrates what their cultural values ??and norms are through ways and customs that should be like this or that. But it is the same with how to sanctify marriage.
