S - Outline the situation, in which you needed to act.

T - Identify the task (or objective), which you needed to complete (or achieve).

A - Discuss the actions you took, to achieve your objective.

R - Discuss the result of your actions, and what you learned from the experience.

 

Note: Hypothetical questions can also be answered using the STAR technique. i.e "What would you do if...?"
