Draw the genetic map for these four loci:
A and B (recombination frequency is 50 cM)
B and C (recombination frequency is 35 cM)
C and D (recombination frequency is 25 cM)
A and C (recombination frequency is 30 cM)
A and D (recombination frequency is 5 cM)
Recombination frequency is a measure of approximation of physical distance between genes. A pair of genes with a larger recombination frequency are likely farther apart, wheras a pair with a smaller recombination frequency are likely closer to each other. The Comparison of recombination frequencies can be used to find out the order of genes on a chromosome. The pair of genes whicg have the largest recombination frequency must flank the other genes. However recombination frequency maxes out at 50%, i,e two genes which show 50% recombination frequency can sometimes be more away from each other as seen in the given example.
