Due to the Enlightenment ideals, I believe that the belief that the United States is a “Christian Nation” could not be upheld because The Enlightenment focused on reason, skepticism and individualism. It leaned more towards science and challenged the traditional religious views. It didn’t completely oppose Christianity but there were beliefs that didn’t align with Christianity. As for the founding documents, the belief that the United States is a “Christian Nation” can be supported because those documents mention God and reference Christianity. People migrated to the United States because they wanted to practice religion freely. The United States gave everybody that opportunity. ( in own words please explain in 50 words)
