· Keep a log of every instance you have yawned for two entire days (from waking until going to sleep)

· Data collection. In a table, For each yawn note:

· What time did the yawn occur?

· What were you doing at that time (aside from yawning)?

· Was the yawn spontaneous or triggered contagiously (by another person)?

· How did you feel before and after the yawn?

· How satisfying was the yawn?

· Data interpretation. Finish the journal with a general reflection on observing your own behavior.

· Did you notice any patterns to this behavior? (Did yawns typically occur in the mornings, when working, etc?).

· Try to represent this in a graph or table (yawns based on time of the day, yawn based on activity such as leisure vs work vs school, etc).

· Do these patterns agree with what you have learned about why we yawn?

· Do you think observing your own behavior impacted your expression of this behavior? (did it make you yawn more or less often. Did observing your own behavior make you conscious of other behaviors of yours?

· Did you tend to notice the yawns of others as well?

· For the essay, do not include your raw data (the individual logs of all of your yawns). Instead, summarize your results in a table or figure showing the trend you noticed (if there was a trend). For example, if you notice that yawns are clustered in the mornings and evenings, then depicting that data in a graph with time of day of the x-axis, and yawns during those hours on the y-axis, is perfect. Even a table with time of day as a column and number of yawns during each of those hours as the other column would suffice. In science reports, we do not present the raw data (although access to it is provided) because part of the process is the summarize and interpret the data.
