CASE SCENARIO 

Scenario 9

The daughter of your patient, Ms. Garcia, is very concerned that her mother is being discharged at the end of the week.  You have been treating the patient at facility ABC for the past 3 weeks since her CVA.  Although the patient has made significant progress she still requires assistance for transfers and gait.  The patient’s daughter would like you to treat her mother 3 to 4 times a week after you get out of work and continue with the plan of care that you are doing now.  She is willing to pay you double what you make an hour.

Scenario 10

You are a CI for a PTA student. The student comes very well recommended from the ACCE. One day you notice that the patient is doing a different exercise from what you had recommended the student to present to the patient. When you ask the student, the student tells you that he found better exercises to do with the patient that are better supported by research. At this point you let it go. Another day, a colleague tells you that the student was telling a patient “I really knowabout exercises because I have the experience, I am going teach you another exercise that will really help you”. When you confronted the student, the student denied having said that but agreed that he taught the patient a similar exercise than the one you both had previously discussed.
