GETTING STARTED

• Open the file NP_PPT19_EOM3-1_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
• Save the file as NP_PPT19_EOM3-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
  • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
• To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
  • Support_PPT19_EOM3-1_Celebration.mp3
  • Support_PPT19_EOM3-1_Marketing.jpg
• With the file NP_PPT19_EOM3-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
  • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

1. In your role as event coordinator for Rockfish Events in San Diego, CA, you develop a presentation describing the company's corporate event services for local companies. Begin by converting the text "Rockfish Events" on the title slide to a WordArt object using the Pattern Fill: Aqua, Accent color 1, 50%; Hard Shadow: Aqua, Accent color 1 WordArt style.
2. With the title slide still displaying, transform the WordArt object with the Deflate effect. Position the WordArt object in the blue area of the slide as shown in Figure 1.

3. With the title slide still displaying, change the color saturation of the picture to 300%. Change the color tone of the picture to 4700 K. Apply the Glass Artistic Effects.
4. With the title slide still displaying, insert the audio clip file Support_PPT19_EOM3-1_Celebration.mp3. Position the audio clip directly below the "h" in "Rockfish." Select the Play Across Slides audio option. Change the audio clip Start option to Automatically. Hide the audio clip object during the slide show.
5. On Slide 2 ("Our Services"), use the Selection Pane to select the group containing the 4 Point Star and the Sun shapes. Ungroup the shape into two shapes. Merge the two shapes into one shape using the Combine merge shape option.
6. With Slide 2 ("Our Services") still displaying, fill the shape with the From Center gradient fill (light variation) .
7. With Slide 2 ("Our Services") still displaying, continue to enhance the shape by adding the Round bevel effect. [Mac Hint – Circle bevel effect.] Copy and paste the shape, so there are two shapes. Move the copied shape so that it is even with the bullet list. Move the original shape so that its right edge is even with the end of "impression." Align the two shapes so that the bottoms are level with each other as shown in Figure 2.

8. On Slide 3 ("Event Types"), insert a pie chart using the content placeholder and enter the data in Table 1 starting with cell A2 and keeping the data "Sales" in cell B1. Remove any unused rows and columns and close the datasheet when finished.

9. With Slide 3 ("Event Types") still displaying, change the chart layout to Layout 7. Add the chart title Breakdown of Corporate Event Types in the position Above Chart. Change the font size of the chart title to 24-point. Add data labels at the Outside End position. Change the font size of the data labels to 28-point. Change the font size of the legend text to 20-point.
10. On Slide 4 ("Event Management Phases"), insert a SmartArt diagram using the content placeholder. Select the Basic Process style in the Process category. Add three shapes to the SmartArt diagram. Open the SmartArt text pane, if necessary. Enter text in the SmartArt text pane as shown in Figure 3.

11. With Slide 4 ("Event Management Phases") still displaying, switch the Right to Left order of shapes in the SmartArt so that the box containing "Hold the Event" appears on the left side of the SmartArt. Move "Market the Event" and its bullet below "Set the Date & Choose the Venue." Demote "Hire all Event Staff" so that it appears as a bullet item under "Handle Logistics." Delete the bulleted item "Social Media Plan" from the SmartArt. Change the SmartArt colors to Colorful—Accent Colors.
12. On Slide 7 ("Market the Event"), change the picture to Support_PPT19_EOM3-1_Marketing.jpg. Sharpen the image by 50%.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
