Unit 3 - Satire Your paper must have all of the following. If it does not, you will receive an automatic failing grade for not following instructions.

• Part 1 (the paper) is present and completed

• Focus on one clearly-stated issue (essays focused on abortion rights will not be accepted)

• Explains both sides of the debate on the issue. Include and cite specific quotes, facts, or arguments.

• Proposal of a ridiculous solution

• Includes logical, ethical, and emotional appeals

• Includes use of satirical devices such as exaggeration. hyperbole, understatement, irony, sarcasm

• Satirical tone carries throughout the paper

• Part 2 (the multi-media presentation) is present and completed • Part 2 covers the same points as the essay

• Part 2 includes additional materials such as sound, videos, animation, gifs, etc.

• Part 2 is at least three minutes long OR ten slides

• Displays polish (less than a handful of errors throughout the paper)

• Displays effort

If your project has all of the above, it will be graded according to the rubric below.
