Generally, this question is trying to gauge your understanding on stakeholder management in a project which is crucial for team work and ensuring the work is delivered as desired. You need to come up with a project in mind for you to have an idea of which stakeholders you will be having on board.
In the first question, assuming the project you have in mind is community based for example drilling of a borehole for a certain community, the possible stakeholders here would be the community itself, the local authority, the sponsors or investors, and so on.
In the second question, after noting down your stakeholders you need to understand why they are part of that project. For example, an sponsor's interest in the project would be to monitor whether their funding is being put to place to serve its purpose.
In the third question each stakeholder in a project, has different expectations, and there could be a common expectation for all of them by the end of the project. For example the community as the stakeholder, expect that the borehole will have clean and safe water for usage and they expect it to be of quality to serve them well.
In the fourth question, when we talk about the objectives or opportunity for engagement, it means the common goal that brought the stakeholders together. In our case scenario, provision of accessible water resources could be an objective of what brought the stakeholders together.
In the fifth question, some of the communication methods that can be used to ensure that everyone is moving together as a team could be through interviews, or even community focus groups, it could be use of social platforms like media or gatherings and so on depending on the project at hand.
In the sixth question, every project never runs smoothly to the end, there must be unforeseen risks and issues that come along the way and some of this risks could be lack of transparency amongst stakeholders, or running short of funds and so on.
In the seventh question, on engaging the stakeholders, you can consider factors like engaging them through reports where they get to be informed of what is going on onsite without their presence, you can engage them by scheduling small meetings in within a week to track the progress or so on
In the eighth question, there is a lot to learn when managing stakeholders and some of this things to learn could be the importance of communication, importance of working as a team, importance of transparency and engaging others in decision making and so forth.
In the ninth question, after this experience, there are of course some things that you will feel need to be improved when it comes to stakeholder engagement and that is exactly what you need to state down. It could be that you feel that community participation is not well put in place given that they are part of the stakeholders in our scenario, and you would improve or change that if given chance.
In the tenth and last question, there are those personal skills that you will definitely feel short at after a stakeholder engagement session, this could be maybe you feel you need to improve your communication skills and so on.
