1 - What is the ethical issue?

This should be stated in terms of right or wrong… i.e. is it right or wrong to…?

2 - Who is making the ethical decision (whose perspective is the case from)?

Identify the one person who is responsible for making the ethical decision.

3 - What are the alternative choices the decision maker has available to them?

Give at least 3 main options for action that are available to the decision maker.

4 – Egoism - Egoism says that the decision maker is basing their decision on the consequences, or outcomes on themselves only, not on others.

What are at least 4 potential consequences/outcomes on the decision maker considering the alternative choices to them?

5 – Utilitarianism - Utilitarianism says that the decision maker considers all consequences/outcomes on all of the potential stakeholders.

What are at least 5 potential stakeholders that could be impacted by the decisions, and how is the impact positive or negative on each stakeholder?

Be sure to think beyond the immediate parties/participants to the broader impact of the ethical decision at hand. For example, how does this impact specific groups of people (Christians, children, the poor, nations, etc…), society in general, and even people in the future that might be impacted, etc…

6 – Principle - Principle ethics says that someone can make an ethical decision based upon a specific principle/duty/rule, regardless of the outcomes.

This is the only place that you should be using your opinion. All other answer should be objective trying to see the whole picture without bias.
