Save the file as

by changing the “1” to
a “2”.

If you do not see the
.pptx
file extension
in the Save As dialog box, do not
type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
With the file
SC_PPT16_9a_
FirstLastName
_2.pptx
still open,
ensure that your
first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.

If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and
download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1.
Barista Training Grounds is a world-renowned association for gourmet coffee
service. This summer, they are offering a special intensive for young baristas.
You will create an appealing presentation buzzing with multifunctional graphics
as stimulating as a grandé cappuccino. You begin by eliminating distracting
graphics in the SmartArt object, while keeping the text.
a.
On Slide 1 (“Barista Training Grounds”), convert the SmartArt object to
text.
b.
Remove the bullets from the text.
c.
Right-align the text in the text box.
2.
On Slide 2 (“Java: A Brief History”), convert the bulleted list to the
Basic
Chevron Process
SmartArt so viewers can easily understand coffee’s place in
history as shown in Figure 1 below.

Change the color of the SmartArt object to

in the Colorful row of the Change Colors gallery.

Apply the
White Outline
style in the Best Match for Document section.
c.
Increase the width of the SmartArt object to
10.8”
.

On Slide 3 (“Why is it called Java?”), create and format a text box as follows:
a.
Create a text box, and then type
Java is an island where coffee was
cultivated
. (
Hint
: Do not type the period.)
b.
Center the text in the text box.
c.
Change the text box height to
0.64”
and the width to
8.5”

d.
Change the font size to

Apply the

using Smart Guides to position the blue ring shape on top of the yellow coffee
cup shape as shown in Figure 2 on the next page. In the following order, click
the yellow coffee cup shape, press and hold Shift, click the blue ring shape, and
then apply the
Combine
merge shape command.

Type
There is no X in Espresso
in the text box.

On Slide 5 (“What You’ll Learn”), format the SmartArt as follows:
a.
Promote “Froth milk” above “Tamp coffee”.
b.
Add a shape to the bottom of the SmartArt.
c.
Enter the text
Deep clean
in the new shape.
10.
On Slide 6 (“The Daily Grind”), format the SmartArt as follows:
a.
Change the SmartArt object to
Hierarchy List
as shown in Figure 4 below.
b.
Demote “Coffee exposed to air quickly goes stale”.

customize specific shapes as follows:

Convert the SmartArt object to shapes.

Ungroup the shapes.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure below. Save your
changes, close the presentation, and then exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the
